Reading's Whitelam Books Hosts 'Confidante' Author Christopher Gorham
Gorham will read from his new biography of Anna Rosenberg, who played a pivotal role in WWII, the civil rights movement and the GI Bill.

READING, MA — Author Christopher C. Gorham will be at Whitelam Books in Reading next week to read from his new book "The Confidante: The untold story of the woman who helped win WII and shape modern America."
The event will take place at 7 p.m. on March 22 at the bookshop, which is located at 610 Main. St.
Gorham's book tells the story of Anna Marie Rosenberg, who was close to Presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman and was the first woman to hold the post of assistant secretary of defense in 1950.

Rosenberg, an immigrant Jewish woman, played a pivotal role in some of the most important moments in the 20th century, including WWII, the New Deal, laying the groundwork for the civil rights movement and the development of the GI Bill.
However, according to the publishers of Gorham's book, Rosenberg's story has not been widely told, until now.

Gorham, who has homes in Watertown and Chatham, is a former lawyer who now teaches American history at Westford Academy. His writing has appeared in the the Washington Post, Literary Hub and Brigade Daily. "The Confidante" is his first book.
