The Reading – North Reading Chamber of Commerce has officially kicked off its Shop the Readings program, www.shopthereadings.com, which serves to support businesses and educate people about the importance of shopping locally. The project is a collaborative and ongoing effort by the Chamber along with the Towns of North Reading and Reading. “Shop the Readings”, is a comprehensive marketing program designed to drive traffic to our local restaurants, retailers and services through the summer months. The website includes a comprehensive list of local businesses and the amenities they offer, including curbside pickup, online shopping and delivery options. The website, which is mobile friendly, is a resource for the community to find the food, products and services they want and need right in their backyard. All local businesses are invited to add their business to the database, which is free, at www.shopthereadings.com. Residents are encouraged to not only use the site but to also opt-in to the Friday Preview text notifications by texting “ShopReadings” to 313131.

Josh Harrington, Chamber President remarked: “this campaign will help to spotlight local business in both towns and bring continued awareness to the community about the importance of shopping locally and supporting our local businesses”

This project is funded in part by a Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism Recovery Grant, and the North Reading Economic Development Committee, as well as many generous sponsors. The grant requires awardees to fundraise to enhance the project budget, and our local businesses certainly answered the call. Silver Sponsors include The Maids, The Horseshoe Grille, Brian Lindmark: Total Mortgage, Biss Botanicals, Reading Gymnastics Academy, Reading Orthodontics, The Savings Bank and Artis Senior Living.
