String of Car Break-ins Reported, Reading

The following is an excerpt from the Reading Police Department log from Friday through Tuesday. The information is open to the public.

Arrests

At 11:04 p.m. Monday, as the result of a traffic stop on Route 95 South, Roosewelt R. Damota, 36, of 83 Main St. Woburn was arrested on charges of unlicensed operation and on a warrant.

Friday, Dec. 28

  • At 5:27 a.m., a Lilah Lane resident reported that his car was broken into and he saw a male running from it. Police were unable to locate the male.
  • At 6:03 a.m., a Lilah Lane resident reported that his car was broken into.
  • At 6:29 a.m., a Lilah Lane resident reported that her car was broken into and change was taken.
  • At 10:56 a.m., a Zachary Lane resident reported that three of her vehicles were entered overnight and multiple items taken from each car.
  • At 12:47 p.m., a Lilah Lane resident reported that her car was broken into and a battery charger was taken from the trunk.
  • At 2:54 p.m., a Roma Lane resident reported that her two vehicles were broken into and $300 sunglasses were taken.
  • At 11:41 p.m., an employee from Macaroni Grill reported that a dolly was taken.

Saturday, Dec. 29

  • At 9:38 a.m., a Longfellow Road resident reported that his fence was damaged by a vehicle overnight.
  • At 6:23 p.m., a Sunset Rock Road resident reported that his car was broken into; change and a GPS was taken.

Sunday, Dec. 30

  • At 10:45 a.m., a Grey Coach Road resident reported that his mailbox was knocked down overnight.
  • At 5:11 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on Main Street. The injuries were unknown.
  • At 5:41 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on Main Street. The injuries were unknown.

Monday, Dec. 31

  • At 11:41 a.m., a caller reported a car accident on Main Street. One car was towed from the scene and one person transported to the hospital.
  • At 2:08 p.m., a resident walked into the police station to report a past hit and run. 
  • At 2:56 p.m., a Lilah Lane resident reported that his vehicle was broken into on Dec. 27 and his glasses were taken.

Tuesday, Jan. 1

  • At 9:54 p.m., a caller reported a suspicious male wearing a hooded sweatshirt standing on the corner of West Street and Arcadia Avenue for 20 minutes. Police found that the male was waiting for a ride.
