The Agganis Football Classic All-Star teams are made up of high school seniors from Eastern Massachusetts. The players are nominated by coaches and selected by the Agganis Foundation.  The Agganis Foundation honors Harry Agganis, the legendary Lynn Classical, Boston University and Red Sox standout who died of a massive pulmonary embolism in 1955 when he was just 26 years old.

For 57 years, the mission of the Agganis Foundation has been to advance academic and athletic achievement. The Agganis Football Classic began in 1956 and has been the primary fundraiser for the foundation, which gives out scholarships in honor of the name and memory of Harry Agganis.
