Town of Reading Updating Hazard Mitigation Plan
The Town of Reading is seeking public input in updating its hazard mitigation plan at a community meeting next week.

The Town of Reading will be making updates to its 2010 Hazard Mitigation Plan at a community meeting next week.
A public forum will be held on Wednesday, June 17, at 7 p.m. at the Reading Police Station Community Room, 15 Union St. The forum is open to the public.
The town, through the Public Services Department, will gather local input to update the plan, which identifies natural hazards, vulnerabilities and risks that affect the community and identifies proactive mitigation policies and actions to help reduce those risks, according to the Town of Reading.

The Public Services Department said having an updated Hazard Mitigation Plan is important to properly prepare and mitigate risks.
The forum will discuss a number of topics, including an introduction to natural hazard mitigation planning, identification of hazards that affect Reading, a review of the 2010 Hazard Mitigation Plan goals, and open discussion to hear about potential goals and actions for the future, according to the Town of Reading.

Residents can complete a survey regarding the Hazard Mitigation Plan update on the Town of Reading website.
