VIDEO: NRHS Students Celebrate Veterans Day
The North Reading High School chorus and band performed Friday to celebrate Veterans Day.
The North Reading High School chorus and band performed Friday afternoon to celebrate Veterans Day. The students created the entire program.
The ceremony started with the Pledge of Allegiance read by Olivia DiMichele followed by the band playing the Star Spangled Banner.
The chorus sang several songs including Yonder Come Day, Song For the Unsung Hero, Patriotic Salute and Only Hope.

The choir students that also read poems, letters and quotes were: Olivia Dimichele, Sarah Lilley, Stephanie Lento, Jen Macneil, Chris McAneny, Jason Glenn, Mae Sorensen, Abby Bachur, Olivia Krol, Taylor Aspeslagh, Janelle Yull, Kristin Diamantides, Emily Hardy, Izzy Rosatone, Kristina Fusco and Mia Griffin.
The students also showed a 25 minute video, produced by the Council on Aging, that featured local veterans.

At the end of the ceremony, Ashtyn Parker-McDermott and Eric Forman performed Taps. The crowd observed a moment of silence before Glenn and Fusco concluded the ceremony with a short speech.
According to teacher and director Allison Kane, the class created the entire program. They researched the speeches, put them together and created the slide show that played in the background.
"It's a great half term project the students create together," Kane said.
