READING, MA — The Thanksgiving holiday will mean widespread closures affecting most businesses and government operations. But there will be a few important services will be available.

Here's what's open and closed in Reading on Thanksgiving 2021:

Coronavirus test sites:

Walgreens - Bolton Street - Reading: Appointment Only

Fast food: Chains like McDonald's, Dunkin', Starbucks and Subway might be open, but hours may vary from store to store.

Government: Town Hall, schools and the library are closed. The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail on Thanksgiving.

Grocery stores: Trader Joe's and Market Basket are closed. Stop & Shop will be open regular hours. Find details about other stores here.

Liquor stores: State law requires all liquor stores to stay closed on Thanksgiving (and Christmas Day).

Retail stores: It'll be hit-or-miss, but some national chains like CVS, Walgreens, Family Dollar and Rite Aid may be open. Call ahead.
