Whitman Male Held in Protective Custody in Reading

The following is an excerpt from the  log from Friday through Sunday. The information is open to the public.

Arrests

At 11:40 a.m. Friday, Mark A. McCarthy, 19, of 55 Azalea Cir. was arrested on a warrant on Azalea Circle.

Friday, Aug. 31

• At 2:38 p.m., an employee from Sunoco reported that a driver drove off without paying for gas. Police followed up with the woman who said she swiped her card, but did not realize that it didn't go through. She will call Sunoco to pay for the gas.
• At 4:43 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on Woburn Street. No injuries were reported. 
• At 5:45 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on West Street. No injuries were reported.
• At 7:47 p.m., a caller reported about 15 youths at being obnoxious and refusing to leave. The youths were gone when police arrived.
• At 9:08 p.m., a caller reported youths gathering at . Police spoke to the youths that were still there when they arrived and advised them of the complaint.
• At 9:52 p.m., a caller reported a male passed out on the front lawn of a home on Main Street. Police held the Whitman man in protective custody until he was later released to his mother.

Saturday, Sept. 1

• At 11:12 a.m., a caller reported graffiti on the RCTV building. 
• At 8:37 p.m., a caller reported a loud party on Howard Street. Police spoke to the homeowner who had a band playing live music, but agreed to shut it down for the night.
• At 9:25 p.m., a caller reported youths throwing construction signs in the street at a block party. Police spoke to the youths and adults present at the party and the youths went inside for the night.
• At 10:29 p.m., a caller reported that her son was harassed by the manager of Burger King. Her son was outside with friends when the manager allegedly threw a cup of water in his direction. The manager denies having done so.

Sunday, Sept. 2

• At 4 a.m., a caller reported a car accident on Salem Street. A car hit a pole. No injuries were reported.
• At 1:45 p.m., a Bancroft Avenue resident reported that a log was thrown threw his window.
• At 2:23 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on General Way. No injuries were reported.
• At 9:15 p.m., the MBTA reported an unruly passenger. They wanted the passenger removed from the train. Police escorted the passenger to the Wilmington line.
• At 9:44 p.m., a caller reported a large house party with possible underage drinking on Green Street. Police found several youths and alcohol at the party. They were released to their parents or a responsible guardian.
