Boy Escapes Attempted Abductor While on Way to Bus Stop in Roslindale

A Roslindale boy walking to a busstop to go to the Sumner School was able to get away from a possible abductor.

Boston Police met with the mother of the child around 8:50 a.m. on May 24, who said her son was at school, but relayed what happened to her son, according to a Boston Police report. Police later interviewed the boy at the Sumner School, which consists of kindergarten to fifth-grade classes.

The boy came running into his home around 8:35 a.m., after trying to walk to the busstop at the corner of Wellsmere Road and Washington Street. The boy said, "Mommy a man tried to take me and he has my book bag." The boy said he was able to wiggle out of his backpack, and got away from the man, and run back home.

The mother said she drove to the corner of Wellsmere Road and Kittredge Street, where the incident allegedly took place and found the boy's bookbag, which she retrieved and found nothing missing. She watched her son get on the bus and head to school.

The possible suspect was described as dark complexion, about 6-foot 3-inches, wearing a white-hooded sweatshirt. Multiple police units canvassed the area but were unable to find the suspect.
