Do You Go to the West Roxbury/Roslindale YMCA?

Several years ago it was called the West Roxbury YMCA, but now officials, including YMCA leaders, are calling it the West Roxbury-Roslindale YMCA (including in press releases). So the question is - are Roslindale resident going to the West Roxbury-Roslindale YMCA?

Located in West Roxbury, and not on the border of Roslindale, there are plenty of examples where organizations such as the YMCA will group communities together to support symbiotic neighborhoods. But how many Roslindale residents are going to Centre Street and Bellevue Street to get their workout on?

It's also always been common for Roslindale kids to attend camps at the YMCA on Centre Street, which abuts Billings Field. So it's not like Roslindale residents haven't been utilizing the Y.

Also, if you didn't hear, $500,000 was secured in the 2014 state budget to assist in renovations and expansion of the West Roxbury-Roslindale YMCA. We're talking new equipment, a teen center and more teen programming, and a boatload of more senior citizen programming.
