Irving Middle School Student to Pay for Window He Broke

The following article is based on a Boston Police report.

A Washington Irving Middle School student will have to pay for a window he broke by punching and breaking the glass.

On May 21, a substitite teacher informed a school police officer around noon that a day earlier a student had punched a window of a door from anger towards another student. The glass in the window broke and needed to be removed by the custodian, due to many glass pieces on the floor and hanging from the broken window frame, according to a Boston Police report.

The student had gone to the nurse's office for bleeding from his right hand, and was advised to seek further treatment for the lacerations on his hand and possible other damage.

A hearing is being set up by the school's principal with the parents of the student to discuss a suspension and a payment plan to reimburse the school for breaking the window, according to a Boston Police report. If a plan cannot be agreed upon during the parent-staff meeting, a court complaint will be sought against the student.
