An accident involving a Boston Police cruiser and civilian's vehicle may have occurred due to the latter vehicle's bald tires on Walter Street in Roslindale.
On July 26 around 8:25 a.m., police and Boston Fire crews responded to Walter Street, and the fire personnel were assisting the driver of the civilian vehicle, who said she had neck pain, according to a Boston Police report. She was transported to the Faulkner Hospital for further treatment.
The woman said she was driving and struck in the rear while in traffic, and that all she heard was a boom. There was damage to the right side of the rear bumper.
The officer said he was stopped in traffic behind the other driver. As she drove forward her tires allegedly began to spin and the vehicle started to slide, and the officer slowed his vehicle down that was moving, and then the vehicle was struck, according to a Boston Police report.
Officers observed there were no treads on the woman's vehicle, which was towed, and there was heavy rust that had fallen from the vehicle after the impact.
The woman was told her tires were unsafe for driving, according to a Boston Police report.
