Roslindale Woman Killed in Crash on Mass Turnpike

The three-vehicle accident occurred at around 12:34 p.m. on Saturday, May 25.

A Roslindale woman died Saturday from injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash that occurred on the ramps from the Massachusetts Turnpike to Route 128 northbound in Weston.

Ana M. Espinal, 43, of Roslindale was declared dead at the scene, after her 1996 Toyota Carolla was seriously damaged in a crash with two other vehicles, trapping Espinal and her two children inside. Newton Fire Department officials helped extricate all three individuals. The children, ages 15 and 17, were transported to Beth Israel Hospital with minor injuries, according to Massachusetts State Police.

The crash was reported at around 12:34 p.m., with troopers from the State Police Barracks in Weston responding to the scene.

The operators of the other two vehicles involved in the crash were not injured, according to reports.

State police are investigating the cause of the crash but so far officials do not believe that alcohol was a factor.

The highway ramps and single lanes were closed for about two hours following the crash to allow for rescue operations, investigation and subsequent cleanup.
