Witness Follows Alleged Hit-and-Run Drunk Driver to Roslindale Home

A witness continued to drive while calling 911 as he followed a Roslindale man who allegedly hit a fence and pole in downtown Boston.

On June 12 around 1:40 a.m., Sandys  Danny Herrera, of 25 Stellman Road #3, Roslindale, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, according to a Boston Police report.

Boston Police spoke with a witness who alleged he had followed the suspect from Stoneham due to the driver's reckless manner of driving, including driving 25 MPH on I-93. The witness told police the suspect eventually got off in downtown Boston and hit a fence, a pole and an unknown vehicle. The witness was eventually able to flag down an officer, who observed the suspect stop in the middle of a public way.

The suspect was pulled over and an officer smelled alcohol coming from the suspect, according to a Boston Police report. The suspect allegedly admitted to having "a couple of drinks" and failed field sobriety tests.
