5 People In Salem Treated For Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Two of the victims were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment in a hyberbaric chamber.

SALEM, MA — Five people were taken to Salem Hospital hospital after being exposed to high levels of carbon monoxide Wednesday at a Congress Street business. Two of those people were eventually transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment in a hyberbaric chamber.

According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, rescue workers evaluated 116 people after being called to Excelitas Technologies Corp. located on the fourth floor of a Congress Street office building. Of those, 37 had been exposed to high levels of carbon monoxide, the newspaper said. As of 2 p.m., the source of the carbon monoxide had still not been located.
