Bonfire Reported on University Campus

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department log:

Thursday, March 22

• At 6:41 p.m., police responded to a neighbor dispute over dog feces on Becket Street.
• At 8:32 p.m., youths fighting were reported on Winter Street. There was no fight when police arrived.
• At 9:20 p.m., fireworks were reported on Clifton Avenue.

Friday, March 23

• At 12:27 a.m., police were called to Bates Common for a bonfire in the woods. The fire was put out and the people dispersed.
• At 1:07 a.m., police responded to Broadway for a report of a group outside and people lying in the street. Upon arrival, police found 10 people in the rear of a residence with empty cans of beer.
• At 5:12 a.m., The Fire Department was called to Barstow Street for a fire under a porch. The fire was quickly extinguished.
• At 8:12 a.m., a person reported they were being harassed on Facebook.
• At 10:11 a.m., police were called to a motor vehicle crash at Highland Avenue and Willson Street. One citation was issued and two people were taken to the hospital.
• At 10:47 a.m., a resident of Gardner Street reported receiving a suspicious letter in the mail.
• At 11:59 a.m., a strong odor of marijuana was reported on Harbor Street.
• At 2:50 p.m., police responded to a four-car accident at North and School streets. There were no injuries.
• At 3:19 p.m., a Beaver Street resident said someone had been dumping trash on his property. Police saw a mattress, pillow, curtains and three tires. Police advised the man to post a no trespassing, no dumping sign.

The following people were arrested:

• Jolene Patrici Schadhauser, 32, homeless, Salem, was arrested on five warrants. 
• Donald Orrie Wear Jr., 43, 11 English St., was arrested on a warrant.
• David A. Couture, 21, 28 Grant St., Dracut, was charged with public drinking.
• Brian P. Deyoung, 45, 117 Lafayette St., was arrested on a warrant.
• Laura B. Fleming, 29, 74 Margin St., Peabody, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.
• Jeffrey M. Vowells, 20, 12 Carlton St., was arrested on a warrant.
