Car Crashes Into Salem Canal Street Restaurant

Sidelines Sports Bar & Grill was closed on Friday after a car slammed into the front of the restaurant.

SALEM, MA — A Salem restaurant was closed indefinitely for repairs on Friday after a car slammed into the front of the Canal Street location in the morning.

Operators of Sidelines Sports Bar & Grill posted photos on social media of the white sedan that had crashed through the front of the restaurant, causing apparent extensive damage to both the facade and the brick building around it. The photos showed the car fully inside the restaurant as far as the interior bar.

"Due to the SURPRISE installation of a Drive Thru window we did not ask for we will be
closed a little while we make the necessary repairs to get back open," Ownership posted on social media. "More information to follow. ... We all our amazing guests and appreciate everyone checking in!"

There was no report of any injuries as of early Friday afternoon.

Owners urged customers to frequent the restaurant's sister location at Paddy Kelly's Restaurant & Pub on Washington Street.
