Catch A Fire On The North Shore This Weekend

Spend the first weekend of the roaring twenties around a roaring fire in these North Shore communities.

SALEM, MA — Temperatures are expected to drop over the weekend from the warmer-than-usual days we've had to start 2020, making it a perfect weekend to join a few hundred of your neighbors around a roaring fire. Several North Shore communities have fires scheduled this weekend, weather permitting.

In Salem, the city will hold its 17th annual Christmas Tree Bonfire on Dead Horse Beach at 6 p.m. Friday. The city has been collecting Christmas trees that will be used to fuel the fire, and Salem residens can bring their tree to the beach right up until the event's start time. In case of rain, snow or excessive fire, the fire will be held Saturday.

The Campfire & Winter Woods Walk kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday at Endicott Park in Danvers. The event organizers are asking for a $10 donation per family. See the event Web page for registration information.

Peabody moved its Fire at the Farm to Sunday at 4 p.m. at Tillie's Farm (189 Lynn St, Peabody). Residents can drop off Christmas trees up until 4 p.m. Friday. People attending the fire on Sunday can get a free s'more if they donate a nonperishable food item. The event also features food for purchase, games and music. In addition to on-street parking, parking will be available at the Brown School and St. Ann's Church.
