Construction to Keep Two Downtown Streets Closed

Utility work under two downtown Salem streets will mean both streets will continue to be closed until Wednesday.

Comcast is doing work on Lynde and Church Streets, which have both been closed to through traffic in recent days, with detour routes posted.

The work is planned to last until Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Work happens between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. There wasn’t any work done during the past weekend.

“During work hours, drivers are advised to seek alternate routes and follow detour signage,” city officials said in an alert about the road work. “Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
