Endicott Alum Tabbed As Salem Academy's New Baseball Coach

SALEM, MA — A former Endicott College baseball player who has coached sports at St. John's Prep and several other North Shore schools has been tabbed to lead the Salem Academy baseball program.

Michael Barbati is Salem Academy's new varsity coach after Salem Academy AD Drew Betts appointed him on Friday.

"Coach Barbati will be a wonderful addition to the Salem Academy community and has an extensive background in coaching that will help him continue to grow the Salem Academy baseball program," Betts said. "His coaching philosophy is centered around creating a positive learning environment that empowers students-athletes to lead."

The Melrose native has also coached baseball and softball at Malden Catholic, Saugus and Malden high schools.

"I come from a family of coaches and I have been coaching baseball throughout my life," Barbati said, "and I am excited for the next chapter here at Salem Academy."

Barbati was a four-year member of the Endicott baseball team and also played in the Inner City Baseball League for years after graduating.

He spent the past six years as Malden's assistant varsity coach.
