Former Salem City Councilor Surrenders Law License
Stephen P. Lovely resigned from the bar to settle misconduct allegations without admitting wrongdoing.
SALEM, MA — Former Salem City Councilor Stephen P. Lovely surrendered his law license to settle a misconduct case with the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers. As part of the settlement, Lovely will not admit to wrongdoing in the charges, which included accusations that he forged documents when purchasing a multifamily home in 2015, which he later converted into condos.
According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, Lovely and the Office of Bar Counsel have been negotiating a settlement for several months. As part of the settlement, Lovely admitted to other misconduct, including a breach of his fiduciary duty.
