Former Salem Resident Killed In Georgia In Apparent Domestic Homicide

SALEM, MA — A former Salem resident was found dead and wrapped in a blanket in a Georgia home this weekend with her boyfriend now facing murder, strangulation and kidnapping charges in her killing.
The Bartow County Sheriff's Office said that the body of Karina Moreno, 42, was found during a welfare check on Sunday that turned into a homicide investigation when Antonios Pete Kostopoulos, 52, was located inside the Cartersville home with blood on him.
Police were responding to reports of a suspected domestic dispute and needed to force their way into the home near Atlanta.

Boston 25 News reported that Moreno was a longtime Salem resident with family members still in the city.
The Bartow Sheriff's Office said Kostopoulos was being held without bond on charges of murder, aggravated assault by strangulation, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, concealing the death of another and tampering with evidence.
