Help Give Salem's Garbage (Truck) A Name

Salem is looking for residents to vote on young students' suggestions to name the city's new garbage truck.

SALEM, MA — Salem residents are asked to help give a name to the new truck that will pick up the city's garbage.

Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo announced the contest to name the Department of Public Services' new truck based on finalist suggestions from pre-K through second-grade students across the district's elementary schools.

"We're proud of the young scholars who were excited to suggest names for our city's new garbage truck and I'm excited to invite our community to be part of the fun by voting for their favorite name," Pangallo said. "This truck is the latest step in our ongoing efforts to maintain a clean and sustainable city, and we believe the people of Salem should have a part in celebrating it."

Voting is open until Jan. 31 at noon here.

The winning name will be revealed at a ribbon cutting for the truck at a date and time to be determined, where the newly named garbage truck, displaying its new moniker, will be unveiled.
