Household Hazardous Waste to be Collected Saturday at High School
The annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is Saturday, Sept. 27 at Salem High School for Beverly and Salem residents.

The annual Salem fall Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is Saturday, Sept. 27 where items such as oil-based paints and motor oil are collected for a flat fee.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon at Salem High School, 77 Wilson St.
In addition to Salem residents, the event is also open to Beverly residents as part of an agreement reached several years ago where each city holds one collection day a year, and residents of both cities are welcomed to both collection days. Beverly will host a household hazardous waste collection day in the spring.

The cost is $20 per vehicle, with proof of residency is required from both Beverly and Salem residents.
Among the items that will be accepted are oil-based paints, lighter fluid, motor oil, tires, car batteries and pool chemicals, among many other items.

Certain items will not be accepted, including TVs, computer monitors, latex paint, air conditioners and refrigerators.
