MA Hotel, Restaurant Workers Losing Jobs In Latest Layoff Report
Massachusetts restaurants cut more than 650 jobs over the weekend as the coronavirus emergency continues to decimate the industry.

BOSTON — More than 660 restaurant workers lost their jobs between Friday and Monday, according to documents released Tuesday by MassHire Department of Career Services.
In addition to cuts at Boston restaurants Grill 23, Wagamaa and Top of the Hub, several hotels filed notices about planned layoffs with the state. The biggest came from Boston Park Plaza, which laid off 500 workers on Saturday.
The new layoffs come after Friday's announcement by the Massachusetts Lodging Association that the industry had already cut close to 18,000 Massachusetts hotel jobs. Nearly one in five workers in the Boston metropolitan area work in the restaurant, entertainment and other industries already hard-hit by the economic downturn resulting from the new coronavirus, according to data from Bureau of Labor Statistics.
