Man Hampers Jury Selection at Salem Superior

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police log:
Monday, March 19
- At 7:51 p.m., police responded to to check on people removing the stained glass from the windows. The officer spoke with a man who had a crew of four people taking apart the boiler in the basement. Another crew was in the church, painting. The man told police the "Catholic Church from Boston" had been there earlier and had taken the glass from the windows and brought it back to Boston. Police called the pastor but he did not answer.
- At 8:20 p.m., a resident of High Street reported a section of fence around the High Street Playground had been cut back. Police alerted Parks and Rec.
- At 9:45 p.m., police observed a vehicle parked in a lot of Jefferson Avenue. While police spoke with the occupant, an officer observed a black glass pipe and grinder sitting on the vehicle's console. The contraband was siezed.
- At 10:06 p.m., police received a call about a party lost in the woods around Wilson Street and the golf course. Police located the person and helped them out of the woods.
- At 10:18 p.m., NEMLEC called Salem officers to Wakefield to help in a search for an elderly man.
- At 11:21 p.m., a Fort Avenue resident told police a vehicle repeatedly drove by slowly, looking in her windows. Police could not locate the vehicle.

- At 12:17 a.m., a resident of Summit Avenue observed a man under his deck on his security cameras. As police were speaking to the resident, a black cat ran by and the man who was previously under the deck, came out of his home on Lafayette. The man told police he had just arrived home from work and was chasing his cat. Police told the man not to go into other yards at that hour.
- At 3:11 a.m., a fire alarm went off in a First Street apartment. The resident told police he had left a calzone box in the oven and it caught fire.
- At 5:06 p.m., a resident of Bay View Avenue woke up, looked out his window and saw two men going through his car. The man yelled at them and they fled. Nothing appeared to be missing from his vehicle.
- At 8:52 a.m., a resident reported his car window was smashed while it was parked on Mason Street near Flint Street.
- At 10:09 a.m., a car window was smashed on Harbor Street.
- At 11:36 a.m., a Mt. Vernon Street resident reported the soft cover to their vehicle was cut.
- At 1:47 p.m. a sister reported her brother had been missing for four days. The brother was later located.
- At 2:34 p.m., a resident of Collins Street reported their car had been broken into overnight.
- At 3:41 p.m., Jonathan Garakwa Ngarambe was arrested for hampering jury selection at Salem Superior Court. (See below).
The following people were arrested:
- Bruce W. Cooper, 41, 10 Howard St., was arrested on a warrant.
- Jonathan Garakwa Ngarambe, 22, 10 First St., was charged with intimidation of a witness.
- Gary D. Woodbury, 57, 29 Hancock St., was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (two counts).
