Man Sleeps On Campsite, Leaves Thank You Note

The following is an excerpt from the log:
Tuesday, July 10
At 4 p.m., police received a report from Winter Island of a problem with a homeless man camping on the property. According to police, the night before, the man slept on the ground outside of tents on a rented campsite. In the morning, the man allegedly wrote a note to the people in the tents, thanking them for use of the site. The couple and four kids in the tent, had no knowledge the man was outside until they got his note.

At 4:39 p.m., a small child was reported in the street on Hathorne Street. When police got there, the mother was with the child.
At 5 p.m., a resident of Essex Street reported a "loud bang" in the backyard and then smoke. Police did not find anything.

At 5:30 p.m., police received a report of two people going through yards on Bridge and Barton streets. William Doucette was arrested (see below).
At 6 p.m., paint was reportedly dumped down a drain at Summer and Broad streets.
At 7:30 p.m., a woman went to the police and told them she was walking in the Gallows Hill Road area when a man with two dogs walked by her. One of the dogs bit the woman on her upper thigh. The man gave the woman his cell phone number in case there were any problems.
At 7:42 p.m., police responded to Washington Street. When they got there, a man who has an art studio unit told police at some point, someone left a "gift" outside his studio door. The gift was a porcelain light switch plate. In the past, the man told police he has received other "gifts" such as a pillow left outside his door. Though not threatening, the man finds the gifts harassing.
A water main break was reported at 9:15 p.m. on Albion Street.
At 11:11 p.m., a man reported being struck by a plastic water bottle while waiting for the bus on Lafayette Street.
Wednesday, July 11
At 9:23 a.m., a resident reported his grandmother's cemetery plot was vandalized. Police responded to St. Mary's Cemetery and found the flowers the grandson had planted were dug up. The man told police he had words with a man about having dogs in the cemetery a while back and thinks he may be the suspect. No other plots were touched in the area. Police told the man to talk to the cemetery office.
At 4 p.m., a telephone pole came down on Lafayette Street.
Arrests:
William Doucette, 28, 2 Warner St., was arrested on a warrant.
John P. Mauro, 34, 36 Franklin St., Peabody, was arrested and charged with assault and battery and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over.
Julio Quintana Jr., 35, 84A Green St., Lynn, was arrested and charged with illegal possession of class B drugs, and on two warrants.
Geovanni O. Rodriguez, 41, 19 Leavitt St., was arrested on four warrants.
Donald E. Chittick, 51, 6 Gallows Hill Road, was arrested on a warrant.
Ruben D. Lithgow, 47, 271 Fenno St., Revere, was arrested and charged with OUI-liquor, driving with an open container, failure to stop for police and a one way street violation.
