Men Seen Kicking Dog In Chase Street Backyard

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police log:
Monday, July 9
- At 4:37 p.m., police responded to
- At 5:57 p.m., police responded to Bridge Street for a report a male had been fondled.
- At 7:20 p.m. police received a report someone had attempted to steal a biycycle on Crescent Drive. The man reported while his bike was at the MBTA station during the day, someone had tried to cut the lock.
- At 7:29 p.m., police took a report from a Chase Street resident who said she and her son observed three men kicking a pitbull in a backyard in front of a child. The woman told police she was concerned for the dog and for the child. She witnessed the men leaving in an SUV.
- At 8:56 p.m., police moved a man along that was sleeping on a park bench at Buffum and School streets.
- At 10:05 a.m., police responded to Bridge Street for a possibly drunk woman sitting on the side of the road. When police asked the woman what she was doing, she said she was resting and looking at the stars. The woman was in fact, not drunk. Police advised her to find a better place to look at the stars.

- At 1:29 a.m., police were patrolling the area of Congress and Dow streets when they witnessed a male on a biycycle. When they tried to stop the cyclist, the man fled from police. Abraham Velez was arrested (see below).
- At 10:52 a.m., unleashed dogs were reported in Greenlawn Cemetery. Police told the owners their dogs needed to be leashed in the cemetary.
- At 11:10 a.m., a resident of Oliver Street reported a package containing a 1956 convertable top for a Chevy valued at $1,200 was stolen from his driveway.
- At 11:13 a.m., police received a report of a suspicious person driving by Camp Naumkeag multiple times. Camp counselors told police a tall, balding man in his 50's was standing by the fence, looking at children playing. When counselors asked him if they could help him, he said he was looking for his neice. Counselors directed the man to the administration building but instead, he got in his silver Toyota and drove away but kept passing the camp multiple times afterward. Police told the counselors to call if they saw the car again.
- Police responded to a pedestrian accident on Chandler Road at 12:55 p.m. The victim was trying to close the car door when the car was put in reverse. The woman fell out of the car but was still holding on to the door. The woman was dragged 75-100 feet before she let go of the door and was run over by the front of the car. The woman was treated for injuries.
- At 1:48 p.m., police moved along a couple living in a tent on Walmart property.
- At 2:33 p.m., police responded to Endicott Street for reports of kids throwing water balloons off their second floor porch. The kid who hit a vehicle with a balloon, apologized to the owner.
Arrests:
- George Allen Anderson, 37, 1 Rope St., was arrested on a warrant.
- Luis Canela, 26, 6 March St., was arrested and charged with vandalism.
- Jordan Michael Desmond, 20, 78 Orchard St., was arrested on two warrants.
- Courtney Ann Fuller, 32, 37 Sandy Pond Rd., Ayer, was arrested and charged with driving after license suspension.
- Jeffery Alan Hamor, 51, homeless, was arrested and charged with trespassing.
- Henrique Anto Ortmayer, 18, 45 Washington St., Peabody, was arrested and charged with driving after license suspension and on a warrant.
- Christopher L. Rice, 39, 277 Lafayette St., was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery.
- Mary Brennan Strong, 49, 1 Washington St., was arrested on a warrant.
- Brooke Sue Beaulieu, 31, 66 Johnson St., Lynn, was arrested on a parole violation.
- Julio Quintana Jr., 35, 84 A Green St., Lynn, was arrested and charged with illegal possession of class B drugs and on two warrants.
- Abraham Velez, 17, 72 Palmer St., was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, marijuana possession and marijuana possession in a school zone.
