Power Outage Hits Downtown Salem
A midday power outage in downtown Salem had affected more than 500 electric customers.

More than 500 electric customers were without power late Tuesday morning in downtown Salem.
The outage occurred at about 11 a.m., according to National Grid.
The 565 customers that were affected were along Derby and Essex streets and near Salem Common, according to a map of the outage by National Grid.

Dominick Pangallo, chief of staff to Salem Mayor Kimberley Driscoll, said that power was expected to be restored on Tuesday afternoon. National Grid estimated it would have power restored by 2:45 p.m.
No information was immediately available about what caused the outage.
