Roxbury Man Charged in Butler Street Shooting

Ariel Matos charged with assault with intent to murder and other gun-related charges.

Salem, MA - A Roxbury man is facing a number of charges, including assault with intent to murder, in connection with a shooting outside 48 Butler Street in Salem on Tuesday night.

Ariel Matos, 23, of 260 Ruggles Street, Apt. b in Roxbury was arrested late Tuesday night in Boston, according to Salem police.

Matos was charged by Salem police with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to murder with a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

The victim was shot in the foot around 8 p.m. on Tuesday night on Butler Street. A vehicle believed to be involved in the incident fled towards Lynn, according to reports.

The shooting victim was taken to an area hospital with two gunshot wounds,according to NECN.
