Runaway Boat Causes Stir In Salem Harbor

A man was injured when he was thrown from an out-of-control boat and then hit in the water on Sunday morning.

SALEM, MA — A man was recovering from a head injury after being thrown from an out-of-control boat in Salem Harbor on Sunday.

Witnesses to the bizarre scene told several media outlets that the man was thrown from the boat and sustained the injury when he was hit while in the water. They then watched Salem and Beverly harbormaster teams chase down the circling boat before the Salem harbormaster was eventually able to board it and get it under control.

Salem Harbormaster Bill McHugh told reporters that he first sought to help the injured man, who was not wearing a lifejacket, before then securing the runaway boat.
