SALEM—Salem Academy Charter School is opening the Norman H. Read Gymnasium at a pep rally at 2:30p.m. on Sept. 7. The new gym will have 11,000 square feet of student athletic space, including a a regulation size basketball and volleyball court, locker rooms, and offices for the athletic staff.
Mayor Kim Driscoll and Dr. Nile Albright, Trustee of the Norman H. Reed Trust, will be in attendance on Thursday. The Read Trust was established in 1994 to further education in the City of Salem.
"The building of the gym is a major mark of growth for our athletic program," said Drew Betts, Athletic Director. He continued, "The Read Gymnasium will provide an opportunity for many of our athletic teams to practice in a beautiful new facility as well as provide them with a true home court."

Salem Academy Charter School is a free public charter school that serves 480 students in grades 6-12. Salem Academy has fall teams in soccer, volleyball, flag football, and cross-country running.
