Salem Can't Swear In Ward 6 City Councilor
A judge approved Jerry Ryan's request for an injunction blocking Megan Riccardi from being sworn in on Monday.

SALEM, MA — Megan Riccardi, who beat Jerry Ryan by one vote in the Ward 6 Salem City Council race in November, won't be sworn in Monday following an order issued Friday by a Lawrence Superior Court judge. Ryan had filed a lawsuit challenging the election and a recount. As part of that lawsuit, he had asked for the injunction.
The trial before Lawrence Superior Court Judge John Lu will resume Monday, the day Salem is scheduled to swear-in elected officials. Still in dispute is a claim by a Spanish-speaking voter that he was not allowed to vote, according to the Salem News, which first reported this story on Twitter. Lu dismissed challenges for 10 other ballots that were flagged during the recount.
The City is forbidden from swearing in Meg Riccardi on Monday. One vote is at stake & will be argued over Monday in the trial's continuation. All other claims about ballots (10) were dismissed by the judge. https://t.co/1D8Nr2my05
