Salem Firefighters Assist at 'Crazy' Fire
Firefighters from Salem were among the crews that fought a four alarm fire in Lynn on Tuesday that left dozens homeless.

Firefighters from Salem assisted at a “crazy” fire in Lynn on Tuesday afternoon that left as many as 50 people homeless.
Salem firefighters were called to the fire at the six-family home at 8 Bennett Circle on the fourth alarm, according to a tweet from Salem Fire Department’s official Twitter account.
Early photos of the fire posted to Twitter showed the entire front of the building engulfed in flames. Later, the fire spread to a neighboring building. In one Twitter post, someone described the fire as “crazy.”

The fire broke out at about 4 p.m. and was under control by 6 p.m.
None of the residents were injured. One firefighter was treated for heat-related injuries. The Boston Globe reported that the fire left 40-50 people homeless. By Tuesday evening, a shelter was opened at Lynn Classical High School for the residents that were displaced, according to Leighton Jones, the chief disaster officer at the American Red Cross of Massachusetts.
