Salem to Remember Sept. 11 Attacks in 'Short but Meaningful Service'
A remembrance service is planned for Thursday morning at the Salem Fire Department headquarters.

Salem will remember the victims of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 during a remembrance service at Fire Department headquarters on Thursday.
The service is planned for Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at Fire Headquarters, 48 Lafayette St., in front of the memorial garden.
The service will remember the victim of the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, Flight 93 in Shanksville, Penn. and at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. 13 years ago.

“Please join the men and women of the Salem Fire Department in a short but meaningful service of this significant event,” the department said in an announcement about the service.
In Boston, Gov. Deval Patrick and other state officials will honors the victims of the attacks at a flag lowering ceremony and a reading of the names of Massachusetts victims on the steps of the State House at 8:30 a.m.
