Salem Resident Named To Greater Boston Food Bank Board Of Advisors

SALEM, MA — Salem resident Rebecca Babbitt Chafe has been named to the Greater Boston Food Bank Board of Advisors in a role where she is expected to provide strategic insights and support in financial services and addressing food insecurity across eastern Massachusetts.

Babbitt Chafe is the Head of Business Controls for the Americas at State Street Global Advisors, where she leads a global team focused on identifying and mitigating risks while ensuring adherence to policies and controls. Her career in financial services spans more than 20 years, with leadership roles in compliance at organizations such as MetLife, John Hancock, and Harbor Capital Advisors.

"Reliable access to healthy food is the foundation for our communities and families to prosper," said Babbitt Chafe. "I'm honored to play a small part in ensuring that GBFB's partner agencies across eastern Massachusetts have the food they need to meet this growing need."

An active supporter and volunteer at The Salem Pantry in Salem, where she serves as a Board Member and Development Committee Chair, she also serves on the Board of the Benjamin Banneker Charter Public School in Cambridge. She has also held leadership roles at St. Peter/San Pedro Episcopal Church in Salem, where she served as Vestry Member and Stewardship Committee Chair.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Gettysburg College and a Master of Business Administration from Simmons College.

Originally from Cumberland, Maine, Babbitt Chafe currently resides in Salem.
