Salem School Has No Heat After Gas Leak
While the leak was stopped before the school needed to be evacuated, gas remains shut off and principals are monitoring the situation.

SALEM, MA — A gas leak in the neighborhood of the Bentley Academy Charter School and Early Childhood Center in Salem has left the facilities without heat. While the leak, which was reported around 8:30 a.m. Friday, was contained before the schools needed to be evacuated, gas service has been shut off to the schools as workers finish repairs, according to a message sent to parents and posted on the Website of Salem Public Schools.
"The building was warm before this event took place, and principals at both schools report that the school continues to be warm and comfortable," the note said. "We have been notified that service should be reinstated shortly, however we will monitor temperatures at the school and take necessary steps."
