SALEM, MA —Salem State University plans to offer at least some in-person classes when the fall semester begins later this summer.

In a note to students Thursday, the publicly-funded university said it was looking to see which classes could be offered online. The university plans to release a finalized schedule showing which classes will be offered in-person and which classes will be offered online by June 22.

"Classes that require special equipment, educate first-year students, and have other characteristics that make in-seat instruction crucial are more likely to be taught in person," Dean of Students Carla Panzella said in his note to the campus community. "For in-seat classes, please pay close attention to the room location information as some classes may be held in an unusual location to improve social distancing efforts."
