Salem Walks In Solidarity Against Domestic Violence
The 33rd Annual Healing Abuse Working For Change Walk and 5K is set for June at the Salem Common.
SALEM, MA — North Shore residents will walk and run to support survivors of domestic violence as part of the Healing Abuse Working for Change Walk & 5K in Salem.
The 33rd annual event will take place on June 8 at the Salem Common.
State Rep. Manny Cruz was chosen as the grand marshal of the event as a lifelong advocate for social justice and community empowerment.

"As a survivor of domestic violence, I am deeply honored to be serving as the grand marshal for this year's HAWC Walk and 5K," Cruz said. "HAWC's work has transformed countless lives, and I stand with survivors and advocates in calling for a future free of violence and fear.
"I strongly encourage all my friends, neighbors, and supporters from across the North Shore to join us on June 8 at the Salem Common as we walk to support the incredible work of HAWC and uplift the needs of survivors."

The event will feature a timed 5K run, a family-friendly walk, community resource tables, music, food, kids fun run, pet parade, and more. Monday raised directly support HAWC’s comprehensive services for survivors of domestic abuse across the North Shore, including emergency shelter, legal advocacy, support groups, parent-child trauma recovery program, and a 24-hour hotline.
HAWC said it is grateful to its Changemaker Partners: Eastern Bank and The Law Offices of Nicole Bluefort and our Catalyst Partners: Sentinel Group, SalemFive, and Swimm with Timm for their annual support as lead sponsors. Our banner bearers for the walk will be Essex Lodge of Salem.
Participants can register as individuals or teams, and all are encouraged to fundraise to help HAWC meet its goal of $125,000.
