SALEM, MA — A new specialty toy shop designed for children of all ages is open on Essex Street.

Owner Denise Kent, whose family has owned the Salem independent bookstore Wicked Good Books for the past 10 years, opened Silly Bunny Toys & Books at 260 Essex Street along with Manager Rachel Bolton.

Kent told Patch she is "just coming up for air" following a whirlwind three weeks since the opening and that she hopes to have a community-based grand opening event soon.

Kent said one other goal of the store will be to bring a connection to the community with events and programming.

The store is open next to the YMCA with parking available in the YMCA/Sewall Street lot.

The store is open daily with general hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
