Water Main Break Affects South Salem

Water customers in South Salem may be seeing no water, low water or discolored water on Sunday afternoon.

A water main has broken in the South Salem area, according to an announcement from city officials on Sunday afternoon.

The break was in the area of the so-called “Presidential streets” off Loring Avenue near the Forest River. The total number of homes and businesses affected was not specified.

“DPW crews are on site fixing this break,” according to the announcement.

The break may mean that water customers could experience no water, low water pressure or brown water, city officials said, adding that it is not unusual.

If anyone has brown water, do not run hot water and instead run cold water until the brown water clears.
