Water Main Break Could Cut Service, Drop Pressure on Thursday
A water main break near Salem Common on Thursday morning was being repaired on Thursday afternoon.

Water service may be interrupted in the area of Salem Common after a water main break on Forrester Street on Thursday morning.
The Salem Department of Public Services said in a CodeRed alert at about 1 p.m. that crews were working to repair the break.
The water main break occurred at about 11 a.m. on Forrester Street, which is near Salem Common, running between Washington Square East and Webb Street.

The Salem DPS said residents in the area of the break may experience an interruption in water service, low water pressure or brown water while the repairs are occurring.
After water service is restored, water customers may still experience brown water, the DPS said, adding that it is not unusual.

“If your water is brown, do not run your hot water; Run your cold water until it clears,” the DPS said in its message. “Also, do not do laundry until your water runs clear.”
