Website Outage Enters Second Day For Many Massachusetts Towns

Towns across the state that use CivicPlus to maintain their Websites were still reporting problems from an outage first reported Monday.

SALEM, MA — A vendor that provides Website services to 4,000 municipal governments, including dozens in Massachusetts, continued to wrestle with outage problems Tuesday.

From Salem to Swampscott and Medway to Milford, municipal governments in Massachusetts that rely on CivicPlus started reporting Website outages on Monday. The outages prevented residents from doing everything from paying excise tax bills online to checking polling locations for early voting in next week's Massachusetts primary, which began this week.

Kansas-City based CivicPlus did not respond to requests for comment on Monday or Tuesday. Several Massachusetts towns were using Twitter and social media to relay updates to residents, but none had an estimate when their Websites would be back up and running as of Tuesday morning.
