What's Open, Closed In Salem On Christmas Day
We have everything you need to know, including the trash pick-up schedule for the holiday week.

SALEM, MA — City of Salem offices will close at 11:30 am on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. The office will be closed all day on Dec. 25 for Christmas and Jan. 1 for New Years.
Trash will be picked up on Monday and Tuesday. For the remainder of the week, there will be a one-day delay (Wednesday on Thursday, Thursday on Friday and Friday on Saturday). Christmas Tree collection will be during the week of Jan. 6 this year.
The city's 17th annual Christmas Tree bonfire will be held at 6 pm on Jan. 3 on Dead Horse Beach at the Salem Willows. The rain/snow/wind date in Jan. 4. Residents can drop Christmas trees at the beach beginning Jan. 2 or leave it out for trash pickup beginning Dec. 31. Make sure you remove all decorations

- Christmas Eve: Most stores open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Christmas Day: Most stores open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excludes stores inside Target).
Supermarkets:
- Shaw's/Star Market
- Christmas Eve: Most stores typically close a few hours early
- Christmas Day: Closed
- Trader Joe's
- Christmas Eve: All stores close at 6 p.m.
- Christmas Day: Closed
- Whole Foods
- Christmas Eve: All stores will have limited hours. Hours vary by location.
