Witch City Residents Can Ride Salem Trolley For Free This Summer

This summer marks the 13th year of the free ride program.

SALEM, MA — The Salem Trolley has extended its annual summer free ride program for Witch City residents for a 13th year this summer.

Salem residents can receive a resident ticket by providing proof of residence at the Salem Trolley office located at 8 Central Street. The program allows for a one-time ride between June 1 and Sept. 30.

"I want to thank the Salem Trolley for their generosity in once again working with us to subsidize this terrific program to make it possible for Salem residents to take advantage of a free trolley ride," Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo said. "They are a true asset to Salem and our business community."

Since the start of the program in 2013, a total of more than 14,750 rides have taken place.

The Trolley runs seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Trolley's route includes much of downtown Salem and also the Salem Willows.

The eight-mile route includes Charter Street Burial Ground,the House of the Seven Gables, Witch Dungeon Museum, Salem Witch Museum, the historic waterfront area and other locations, including
Chestnut Street.

Admission is based on the availability of seating. Passengers will not be allowed to disembark and then get back onto the Trolley.
