Woman Nabbed on Theft Charge After Giving T Officers False Name

A woman allegedly illegally smoking at a T station was arrested on a warrant out of Salem after giving officers a false name.

A woman that was, at first, illegally smoking at a MBTA station was arrested after giving officers a false name

Transit police said they were on patrol on Sunday at 11:25 a.m. at the Quincy Center station when an officer’s attention was drawn to a female who was allegedly smoking a cigarette in the entrance to the station where there was conspicuously posted “No Smoking” signs.

The officer approached the woman to remind her about the smoking laws and she gave the officer a false name and date of birth. But the name she provided belonged to a real person who had a warrant out for her arrest.

The woman was later identified as Tina Lunn, 37, of Braintree, but even after told there was a warrant out for her arrest under the false name, Lunn did not come clean with her misleading information, police said.

She continued through the entire booking process as her new assumed name, police said.

Eventually officers discovered Lunn’s true identity and found that there were several warrants out for her arrest, including charges of larceny over $250 from Salem District Court. She also had warrants from Hingham District Court for three counts of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Kidnapping and Possession of Chemical Mace without an FID card. She will also be charged with False name during Booking process and was issued a smoking citation.
