Yard Waste Drop-Off Resumes March 12th at Salem Transfer Station
Salem residents allowed to drop off leaf, grass, and brush at Transfer Station on weekends starting March 12.

Salem, MA - Salem residents with proof of ID will be able to resume dropping off their yard waste at the Salem Transfer Station on Swampscott Road on March 12. Drop off hours will be limited to Saturdays and Sundays, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., commencing Saturday, March 12 and until further notice. Due to the demolition and associated work at the transfer station site, those dropping off materials are reminded for their own safety to stay within the designated drop-off area only.
Yard waste should be dropped off in a paper yard waste bag or dumped loose at the designated area on the site. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be accepted and stumps and branches greater than 2” in diameter will also not be accepted. Construction and demolition debris will not be accepted at the Salem Transfer Station.
The next curbside yard waste collection will take place as scheduled, the week of April 25th. Subsequent curbside yard waste collection will take place the weeks of June 27, September 25, October 24, and November 28. Curbside collection of yard waste takes place on the regularly scheduled trash day for the street.

Residential trash and construction and demolition debris will not be accepted at the Transfer Station at this time. Residents who need to dispose of residential trash in excess of that which fits within an approved curbside trash cart may purchase official overflow trash bags for curbside collection. Overflow bags are available for $2.50 each at the Department of Public Services (5 Jefferson Avenue), the City Collectors Office (93 Washington Street), Crosby’s Marketplace (109 Canal Street), and Winer Brothers Hardware (86 Lafayette Street).
