Seekonk MCAS Scores Better Than State

The results of the spring 2013 MCAS are in, with most students in the Seekonk school district scoring better than others in the state.

Overall the percentage of Seekonk students who scored proficient or higher was 80 percent, compared to 81 percent last year. In math, 70 percent scored proficient or higher compared to 68 percent in 2012. The percentage of Seekonk students who scored proficient or higher in science and technology was the same in 2013 as 2012 with 64 percent.

In English, 26 percent of all Seekonk students in the district scored in the advanced category with 54 percent on the proficient. The state placed 19 percent and 50 percent respectively. In mathematics, 33 percent of the district placed in the advanced category with 37 percent in proficient. The state scored 28 percent and 33 percent respectively. Nineteen percent of the district placed in the advanced category in science and technology while 45 percent were deemed proficient. The state scored 16 percent and 37 percent respectively.
