Olivia Landstein SHS ‘25: Eagles Making Impact

Sharon High School junior seeks a world without cancer, and she is leading a project to help make that happen.

Olivia Landstein SHS '25 is leading a team of high school students in a seven-week campaign to raise money to fight blood cancer. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign is working to raise important funds for LLS’s mission. .

Student Visionaries of the Year is a national seven-week challenge through which high school student leaders raise funds and awareness for the fight against blood cancers. Last year’s New England candidates raised an amazing $500,000 for the mission of LLS. This year’s campaign begins on February 15th and culminates with our Grand Finale Gala on Sunday April 7th at Granite Links in Quincy, MA. The funds raised benefit the LLS mission; to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Since 2017, the Student Visionaries of the Year program has raised over $190 million by candidates in 75 markets for blood cancer research, patient aid, and community outreach programs!

This is truly an elite group of student leaders, and SHS is proud to have Olivia as part of this campaign to represent Sharon High School!

Olivia has been impacted by this disease: her Great Aunt Kathi passed away from acute myeloid lymphoma in 2021, a loss that fueled her drive to have a positive impact on this cause.
Olivia is also leading this campaign in honor of James Lino, a 6 year old boy who was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma at the age of 3. His journey has been marked by strength and courage over the course of two years of treatment with many side effects. James is a hockey and baseball fan and loves playing with his older brothers, Jack and Tyler. James’ brothers have been his biggest cheerleaders. He looks up to them so much and credits them for where he is today in his recovery. James and his family share a positive attitude: “life is what you make of it.” They never let cancer steal their joy - they will always prevail.

Cancer is devastating for the patients and their loved ones. Olivia sees how LLS has made a difference in the lives of many people through its research, education, advocacy, and patient support programs.
