SHARON, MA — Sharon police were reporting many road impassable across town Tuesday morning as crews cleaned up from Monday's fierce wind and rain storm. Police asked drivers who were out doing essential business amid the new coronavirus stay-at-home directive to be cautious with Eversource and Department of Public Works clearing streets and restoring power outages.

Police said there were "many road closures" Tuesday morning and that barricades in the road are an indication of possible live wires present.

Close to 42,000 Massachusetts residents were still without power Tuesday morning following the powerful storm that lasted much of the day on Monday. Plymouth and Bristol counties were the hardest hit, where more than half the residents of towns like Cohasset, Rehoboth, and Hanson were still in the dark Tuesday morning, according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. Close to 2,000 customers were without power in MetroWest towns like Wayland, Sherborn, and Weston.

But those outages are down from a peak of around 132,000 at 7 p.m. Monday. The outages were dropping fast on Tuesday, with about 5,000 restored between 7 and 8:30 a.m. alone. You can check for local power outages on the MEMA website.
